The Mercenary Sea #8

This is issue #8 of the short-lived Image adventure series (roughly 8 issues total, later collected in a single TPB). It’s a pulpy, cinematic 1930s South Seas adventure following Captain Jack Harper and the crew of the ship The Mercenary Sea. Think classic adventure serials mixed with mercenary jobs, exotic locales, treasure hunting, and pre-WWII tension (Japan invading China, war looming in Europe).

This specific issue continues the “On Treasure Island” two-part arc. The crew is on the hunt for Koji Ra. The cover captures the tone perfectly: tense jungle action with stylized, graphic-novel artwork, bold colors, dramatic shadows, and a cinematic composition. A small green frog even sits on the title banner for a fun touch.
